The hoody’s number is up

New York Numbers by Nick DiLallo

Numbers.

You’ve got to love them.

Even if you’re not a mind-bending mathematician with a blackboard covered in insane scribbles; numbers have hidden meanings, superstitions and an aesthetic beauty.

There is nothing like a good, big, faded number screen printed on to the front (or back) of a hoody.

Also, there’s a good chances that the number means a great deal to the person wearing it. It could relate to a lucky bet, a squad number, a significant date or a home. We like the fact that numbers can be understated and mysterious but also visually wonderful, as copywriter Nick DiLallo is proving with his top photography project ‘New York Numbers’.

Nick is trying to remind us that inspiration and beauty can be found in numbers all around us. So, he’s documenting the diverse and brilliant number typography taken from across NY – from fancy mosaics to simple black paint.

You can follow Nick’s fascinating project over at @newyorknumbers on Instagram.
