Inspiration through the post

'Do Not Open' by Erik Marinovich

Our little nostalgic hearts jumped when we discovered Erik Marinovich’s wonderful project called ‘Do Not Open’. The San Francisco designer mails hand-painted envelopes to anyone around the world you’d like him to.

Not only is the project a wonderful and intimate throwback to the days of letter writing – there is still a real thrill about receiving a hand-written letter through the post – the typographic designs are breezy, fun and beautiful.

A quick Hoodywink poll, and we’d all be happy to have our addresses feature on the front of a hoody if it was created with such aplomb. Useful if you accidently leave the hoody on the beach too… Return to sender!

You can submit an address and, for a fee, a one-of-a-kind hand-lettered envelope will be carefully packaged and mailed to you. The series will be limited to only 250 envelopes and international orders are welcome.

Came across this project over at The Fox Is Black and Design Taxi.
